I asked a coworker of mine to listen to Manhattan Transfer a couple weeks ago, just because I know he enjoys some types of music that others find difficult to listen to. He didn't like it.
I thought about it more, and I realized that I listen to a LOT of music others can't stand. I guess I listen to things that are considered to have niche crowds: they have small but loyal groups of followers. Sooo, check out my list of "weird" music and listen outside your music box. :)
-Legaci is an a capella group I discovered on YouTube who does covers of other artists' work--they offer some of their cover songs as downloads.
-Lisa Scinta: This girl is also on YouTube, and she has an AMAZING powerhouse voice!
-Lindsay Lare Cooper is the last artist I'll list who does mostly cover songs. Her voice is gentler and sweeter than Scinta's, but still beautiful.
-Thomas Fersen: This is a French pop/jazz/blues star--he's popular in France but unheard of here in America. I haven't listened to a lot of his music, but I really love Deux Pieds.
-Stars Below: This is a band local to Huntsville--their music is fun, but I really have lost my love for them since the lead singer left and was replaced by his brother. Still, I have some of their music on CD and I play it often. The link I've provided leads to music sung by the original lead singer.
-JD Natasha has an AMAZING latin remix of Outkast's "Hey Ya."
-Neil Dover writes and performs all the music for Karen Moning's Fever series.
-3OH!3 has this really cool song out.
-Secondhand Serenade finally got a song on the radio last year, but he hasn't been successful in getting another one on because he isn't generically popular. Incidentally, the one that comes on the radio isn't my favorite SS song. (I do like it though!) I prefer "Awake," "Your Call," and "Let it Roll."
-And finally, Manhattan Transfer is perhaps the weirdest of the stuff I like. They're a quartet that sings vocal jazz. Their two most popular songs are probably "Operator" and "Boy from New York City," but I also love "The Offbeat of Avenues," "Tuxedo Junction," "Gloria," "Route 66" . . . the list goes on. I couldn't find a link to any complete songs by them, but you can listen to a few of their songs for free on Rhapsody by searching for them.
-I also like an assortment of showtunes, like "On My Own" from Broadway's Les Miserables, and "Memory" from Cats.
Is there any music you like that most other people would look at you funny for?

I like a lot of what you have listed here. I listen to a lot of different stuff. It just depends on my mood what I want to hear. I don't know that anyone who knows me would think any of what I listen to is strange because I listen to such a broad variety.
Hm. Beyond Neil (Obv.) I haven't heard of any of them. I'll go take a peak as I'm bored with my current mp3 choices.
