About Me

LAST UPDATE:  29 NOVEMBER 2005

I consider myself a Carolina girl, since I lived in North Carolina for ten years, then in South Carolina for seven.  I've lived in Alabama since the day after I graduated high school, which has been three and a half years from the date of this entry's edit.

I'm a goody-goody, the type of girl, as Jude Deveraux said, who kisses on the third date rather than sleeping with a guy on the first.  I have never touched a cigarrette or a drug, and rarely drink.  I never drink to excess, have never been drunk.  I like that about myself.

I'm married and have a nearly five month old son, Zachary.  Being a good mom is a top priority in my life right now, and takes up a lot of my time.

I enjoy writing, reading, singing, bowling, the occult, learning, ballroom dancing, literary editing, scrapbooking, and going to the gym.  I am currently aspiring to try horseback riding and skateboarding, and would eventually also like to try martial arts and rock climbing.

I like people, for the most part, though I consider myself a loner and enjoy doing solo things.  I feel passionately and speak passionately, and I like to mean what I say.  My morals are lacking in the eyes of most people, but that is mainly because I prefer to think for myself instead of repeating things I hear that seem intelligent on the surface.

I am difficult to offend and am very open-minded, IMO.  I like intelligent discussion and people who disagree with me on occasion.

I go bananas for anything cliche and enjoy learning more Spanish than I know.  I'm also addicted to internet friend surveys.

<<"studying *real* religions (none of that Native American-Celtic-VooDoo-Irish-Japanese-British Traditional-MooCow Goo Gai Pan Wicca stuff), "

Honestly I am just curious.  To which religion are you refering?  If you prefer not to discuss it with someone you don't know, that's perfectly ok.  I am a pagan realist(my own word for it).  I don't do the fluffy bunny crap and I know that everything is not all sunshine and love.
Anyway, just thought I'd ask :-)

Okay, you asked for it.  My opinions, not held back.

Wicca today is a scam.

I take that back.  Wicca today is not a scam.  What I refer to as *Neo*-Wicca is a scam.  British Traditional Wicca (a term defining one of two existing forms of actual Wicca, Gardnerian Wicca and Alexandrian Wicca) is a real, honest-to-God (pun much intended) religion.  It is organized and has members who can trace their initiated lineage back to Gerald Gardner.  They have a common set of rules, a pantheon of gods, a list of rituals they perform, an actual set of beliefs, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.  Just like other religions.  Well, minus the initiate thing.  Not all religions require initiation in order to join them (though Christianity and Catholicism have baptism, which is extremely similar--only you can still be Christian if you have not been baptized).

Part two of this comment is next.

Neo-Wicca, for me, defines all of Wicca that is neither Alexandrian or Gardnerian.  The only organized Wiccan religion that I accept as "Wiccan," though in no way resembling British Traditional Wicca, are the Correllian Nativists.  They are organized religion, even though they are not really Wiccan.  The thing that bugs me are the people who worship some Greek god form and claim they are Native American Wiccans.  Or the people who worship any number of gods from dozens of pagan religions, but they think the Celts are cool, so they call themselves Celtic Wiccans.  Or any other person who has eclectic pagan beliefs and considers themself some kind of hyphenated Wiccan.  I'm not saying their religion is any less valid as a real religion, despite the implications of the statement you quoted, but those religions are not, I repeat NOT, Wiccan.  In any way, shape, form, or fashion.  The watered-down crap fed to most of America today by new-age wannabe authors have no legs to stand on, and their facts are twisted and distorted beyond belief.  Some of their "facts" are actually complete fabrications.  I could get more accurate results running a *Google* search.

Okay, stepping off my soap box.  Any more questions, or if you want me to clear something up, just ask.

LOL....I didn't mean to get out the soap box...LOL  But I do understand what you mean.  I am very eclectic but I am not Wiccan.  I am Pagan.  I lean very heavily towards the egyptian pantheon but I have found interesting little tid-bits from other styles ands religions.  I have met a few Neo wiccans....and they were very nice people but a little too much sunshine and love for my taste.  They used the phrases "Merry Meet" and "Blessed Be" a whole lot and it was way too much!

Hahaha, I have an entry about these "Wiccan" phrases.  Let me see if I can dig it up.
