A lot of people always look at me and say "Wow! You're so thin! How do you eat everything you want, never exercise, and still look like that?" And my reply is always, "It's not as great as it seems." I know I'll never discourage overweight people from wishing they could look like me, and I'm not saying being overweight is a good thing, or even that it's better than being skinny.
What I am saying is that there are ups and downs on each side of the fence. You know that saying, "The grass is always greener on the other side?" Well, in this case, that is definitely one of the most true phrases ever created. So many people who are overweight strive and fight all their lives to look like me, and what I want to ask is, "Why bother?"
I mean, not only is it a pain in the ass to get warm in the winter, but it also sucks to do sit ups, sit down on a hard bench, etc, etc, etc. And just 'cause I'm skinny doesn't mean it's not just as hard for me to run a mile. I'm definitely out of shape, and it takes its toll on me when I actually exercise, which is next to never.
I had a membership at a gym here, called 24/7, and I absolutely loved it. Tanning, Circuit Room, kickboxing classes, etc. I enjoyed the exercise so much. If I weren't so damn tired all the time, I'm sure I would exercise a lot more than I do.
In any event, the point is, skinny folks don't have it any easier than large people. If ever an overweight person got stared at and pointed at two or three times a week, it wouldn't be as bad as the harrassment I get almost daily. Anytime you meet someone new, they want to comment on how skinny you are. Someone who has never had the gall to say something mean to an overweight person has no qualms whatsoever saying something nasty to a thin person. The toppers on the list are snide comments and insinuations that I'm anorexic or bulemic. And no matter what you try to tell a person, they will always believe that, because people are stubborn.
